Senior Electrical Engineer – Data Center Design (REMOTE)
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer specialising in data center design to join a dynamic engineering team for an owners representative. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in electrical systems design, implementation, and maintenance specifically tailored for large-scale data center environments. This role requires a strategic thinker who can drive innovative solutions while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Leadership: Lead the electrical design process for new and existing data center facilities, including power distribution systems, lighting, grounding, and backup power solutions.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet all specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, architects, and construction managers, to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Technical Expertise: Provide expert guidance on electrical systems, including low voltage, high voltage, and emergency power systems (UPS, generators).
- Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards (NEC, IEEE), and best practices in data center operations.
- Site Assessments: Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate existing systems and recommend upgrades or improvements.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development through knowledge sharing and training.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and innovations in data center design and electrical engineering.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 13 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on data center design and operations.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and electrical analysis tools.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and best practices applicable to data centers.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to project challenges.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 10% to job sites.
