Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Shift Technician with a background in mechanical or electrical maintenance to join the operational team at a state-of-the-art data centre facility in Amsterdam. This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliable, efficient operation of critical building systems. Candidates from all industries (e.g., commercial buildings, manufacturing, hospitals, pharma, logistics, etc.) are welcome-data centre experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical or mechanical systems such as HVAC, generators, UPS, switchgear, pumps, or control panels

Conduct routine equipment checks and log key readings across systems

Respond promptly to alarms or faults, investigate root causes, and resolve issues

Support vendors and contractors during maintenance and inspections

Maintain shift logs, records, and ensure accurate handovers

Follow and enforce health and safety procedures at all times

Collaborate with peers and site leadership to ensure uptime and operational efficiency

Take part in ongoing training and development in a critical environment setting
Requirements

MBO Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering

2+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a commercial, industrial, or institutional setting

Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently on shift

Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends

Good communication skills in English; Dutch language skills are a bonus

Strong team player with a proactive attitude
Preferred But Not Essential

Knowledge of systems like HVAC, UPS, switchgear etc

Previous experience in a 24/7 operational or critical environment
