Scott McCarry: From Dunfermline to Dubai. Data Centres in the Middle East.

In this weeks episode I am joined by Scott McCarry, Commercial Manager at Laing O’Rourke in Dubai. Scott has worked in the Middle East for the last 5 years and he has an excellent view of the current activity within this region.

Scott entered the construction sector straight from college and studied a degree while working for a leading residential developer in Scotland. The global financial crash resulted in exposure to the data centre sector and what has followed is a career on some of the largest data centre projects across the world.

We discuss how Scott made the transition to the data centre sector and how easy or difficult he found the transition. Scott outlines the skills he believes are required to be successful on data centre projects.

We then cover the Middle East and discuss the current and future data centre activity within the region.
