Job Title: Data Centre Site Lead
Location: Birmingham (B9)
Salary: Up to £55,000
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Role Summary
As Site Lead, you will be the senior on-site presence responsible for the operational performance, technical oversight, and service excellence of our Central Birmingham data centre. This technical role bridges facilities engineering and IT operations, ensuring a high standard of availability, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Act as the senior on-site contact for all operational matters.
- Oversee daily tasks including system checks, maintenance coordination, and support functions.
- Ensure strict adherence to site protocols and operational processes.
- Liaise with internal teams and external contractors for service delivery.
Technical Support
- Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure systems (e.g., power, cooling, fibre and copper connectivity).
- Troubleshoot engineering and ITC-related issues, escalating when needed.
- Support IT infrastructure, cabling, and remote hands services.
Customer Service
- Serve as the escalation point for customer requests, remote hands, and cross-connects.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality customer service on-site.
- Coordinate with clients and internal service delivery teams for seamless operations.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate logs of daily operations, incidents, and routine inspections.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and security standards.
- Provide regular performance and incident reports to the Regional Data Centre Manager.
Emergency Management
- Lead the on-site response during incidents or emergencies.
- Implement contingency and escalation procedures.
- Coordinate with senior management and relevant stakeholders in real-time.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience working in a mission-critical data centre environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) systems.
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure, fibre optics, and connectivity solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in an operational setting.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
