Construction Lead – Data Centre Project

Location: Middenmeer, Netherlands

Role Purpose

The Construction Lead will be responsible for managing all on-site construction activities for a hyperscale data centre project. This includes overseeing contractors, ensuring safety and quality standards, and driving the project to meet key milestones. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate complex construction operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day construction operations on-site, ensuring alignment with project plans and schedules.
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely and quality delivery of works.
• Monitor site safety, compliance, and environmental standards, promoting a culture of zero harm.
• Coordinate with design, engineering, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and construction documentation.
• Support the Project Director in managing programme risks, change control, and stakeholder communications.
• Ensure quality assurance processes are followed and defects are addressed promptly.
• Drive continuous improvement in construction methods, logistics, and productivity.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience in construction delivery, within either in mission-critical or data centre environments.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale construction sites in Europe.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, and health & safety regulations.
• Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
• SMSTS, VCA VOL, or equivalent safety certifications preferred.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience working on hyperscale or high-tech infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with Dutch permitting and construction standards.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster collaboration.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
• Tech-savvy with experience using digital construction tools (e.g., BIM, Procore, Aconex).
