    Project Engineer (Mechanical) – Abilene, TX (Data Centre / Mission Critical)

    Position Purpose
    Project Engineer (Mechanical) responsible for commissioning and supporting mechanical systems across mission critical and data centre environments. The successful candidate will support the delivery of commissioning projects from design review through testing, startup, and final handover while ensuring systems operate in accordance with client requirements and industry best practices.
    This role requires a technically capable and detail-oriented engineer with experience in mechanical systems, commissioning processes, troubleshooting, and project coordination within critical infrastructure projects.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Commission mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems within data centre environments
    • Review system designs and drawings for compliance with operational and client requirements
    • Assist in developing commissioning plans, procedures, and testing scripts
    • Execute commissioning activities from design phase through occupancy and handover
    • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and document procedures and outcomes
    • Conduct functional testing and troubleshooting using test instrumentation
    • Maintain commissioning documentation, issue logs, and field reports
    • Coordinate field activities with contractors, vendors, OEMs, and project teams
    • Review commissioning schedules and project documentation
    • Support daily reporting and client updates
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to Associate Project Engineers
    • Ensure compliance with all project and site safety procedures

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
    • 2+ years’ experience within mission critical, commissioning, or mechanical engineering environments
    • Alternatively, 4+ years of relevant commissioning or controls experience considered
    • Experience in mission critical/data centre environments essential
    • Strong understanding of mechanical building systems and controls
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
    • Excellent communication and coordination skills
    • Strong organizational and troubleshooting abilities

    Preferred Skills

    • Knowledge of ASHRAE and/or BCxA commissioning guidelines
    • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and EPMS platforms
    • Controls or programming experience advantageous
    • Understanding of commissioning instrumentation and testing equipment
    • Strong client-facing communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environments

    Work Environment

    • Primarily site-based on mission critical/data centre projects
    • Active construction and live operational environments
    • Daily PPE required
    • Travel expectations may increase depending on project assignment
    • Ability to walk extended distances on-site and carry equipment as required
