Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager (MEP Manager) to lead the commissioning and turnover process for mission-critical construction projects. This role is responsible for managing all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and low-voltage systems to ensure operational readiness, performance validation, and seamless project delivery.
The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams to ensure project success from construction through commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the commissioning process across all MEP trades from design through project turnover.
- Review contract documents and provide input on MEP-related recommendations and constructability.
- Oversee and coordinate MEP subcontractors, vendors, and owner-furnished contractor-installed (OFCI) equipment throughout all project phases.
- Review and validate MEP submittals, shop drawings, and specifications for compliance with project requirements.
- Support the scheduling team in developing and maintaining MEP installation and commissioning timelines.
- Implement and manage the commissioning process across all levels, from installation verification to performance testing and owner acceptance.
- Manage equipment quality control, including logistics, installation, protection, startup, and final commissioning.
- Administer and maintain the project’s commissioning management software, ensuring all checklists, issue logs, and test documentation are up to date.
- Review and approve Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for energization, tie-ins, fill-and-flush activities, and related operations.
- Lead and coordinate equipment inspections, walk-downs, and readiness reviews prior to energization or turnover.
- Collaborate closely with design teams, construction teams, commissioning agents, and owner representatives to ensure schedule alignment and successful system performance.
- Facilitate internal and client-facing meetings related to commissioning, testing, and turnover.
- Mentor and develop project team members, promoting technical excellence and accountability.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in construction, MEP coordination, or commissioning management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and low-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with applicable building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with owners, engineers, architects, and subcontractors in a professional, collaborative manner.
- Strong organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.
- Experience leading commissioning on large-scale or mission-critical projects is highly desirable.
