Estimating Lead – Data Centre Construction
Location: Middenmeer, Netherlands
Sector: Mission Critical / Data Centres
Reports to: Commercial Director / Project Director
Role Purpose
The Estimating Lead is responsible for managing the full estimating lifecycle for a hyperscale data centre construction project. This includes developing cost plans, managing tender processes, and providing strategic input into procurement and commercial decisions. The role requires deep technical and commercial expertise, particularly in high-value, fast-track environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates across CSA, MEP, and commissioning scopes.
- Develop and maintain project cost plans and benchmarking data.
- Manage tendering processes, including bid analysis and contractor negotiations.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure accurate scope pricing.
- Provide strategic input into procurement and value engineering decisions.
- Support risk and contingency planning through cost modelling and scenario analysis.
- Present estimates and commercial insights to senior stakeholders and clients.
- Maintain estimating tools, databases, and historical cost records.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience in estimating roles within construction, ideally in mission-critical or data centre environments.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and cost drivers.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, CATO, Excel).
- Experience with NEC, FIDIC, or similar contract forms.
- Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with hyperscale infrastructure and international project delivery.
- Strong analytical and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior estimators.
- Familiarity with digital cost management platforms and BIM integration.
