DataX Connect are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee and manage the mechanical systems installation for a major data centre construction project in Paris for a global developer expanding their data centre business unit across EMEA.

This role involves leading all aspects of mechanical work, including HVAC, piping, and cooling systems, ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and safe delivery of high-quality mechanical systems in compliance with project specifications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing mechanical installations on large-scale construction projects, particularly in the data centre or critical infrastructure sectors.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Project Planning and Coordination: Develop, manage, and coordinate all mechanical works for the data centre build, including HVAC, chilled water systems, plumbing, and fire protection. Collaborate with other project managers and engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other disciplines (electrical, structural, etc.).
    • Budget and Schedule Management: Oversee and control project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure mechanical work is completed on schedule and within budget. Report progress, challenges, and solutions to senior management.
    • Vendor and Contractor Management: Lead the selection and management of mechanical contractors and suppliers. Ensure that contracts are executed efficiently and that contractors adhere to safety, quality, and compliance standards.
    • Quality Control: Ensure all mechanical installations meet the highest quality standards and comply with relevant codes and project specifications. Implement and oversee quality assurance procedures, including inspections and testing.
    • Design Review and Problem Solving: Review mechanical design plans and specifications, identify potential issues, and implement solutions. Collaborate closely with design engineers, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure optimal system performance.
    • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all mechanical work adheres to French and European safety regulations and industry standards. Proactively enforce site safety protocols and work closely with the Health & Safety Manager to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of project progress, including site reports, technical documentation, schedules, and budget tracking. Ensure all mechanical-related documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the main point of contact for all mechanical aspects of the project. Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including clients, architects, consultants, and contractors, to provide updates and ensure alignment.
    • Commissioning and Handover: Lead the commissioning process for mechanical systems, ensuring that all systems are tested, functioning as designed, and meet operational standards. Manage the smooth handover of mechanical systems to the operations team upon project completion.
