MEP Estimator – Data Centre Construction

Reports to: Estimating Lead / Commercial Manager
Role Purpose
The MEP Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) packages of a hyperscale data centre project. This role supports tendering, budgeting, and procurement decisions, ensuring that all MEP scopes are priced in line with technical requirements and market conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems based on design drawings and specifications.
- Support the preparation of project cost plans and budgets.
- Assist in tender documentation, bid analysis, and subcontractor negotiations.
- Liaise with engineering, design, and procurement teams to ensure scope alignment.
- Maintain historical cost data and benchmarking tools for MEP systems.
- Identify cost risks and opportunities and support value engineering initiatives.
- Review supplier and subcontractor quotations for completeness and accuracy.
- Support post-tender negotiations and contract award processes.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience in estimating roles, with a focus on MEP packages.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and installation methodologies.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX, Excel, CATO).
- Experience with large-scale construction projects, ideally in mission-critical or data centre environments.
- Fluent in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with NEC, FIDIC, or similar contract forms.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with BIM and digital estimating platforms.
