Overview
A leading European data centre delivery partner is seeking a Project Planner to join its team in Amsterdam. The company provides full turnkey solutions from design through to construction and commissioning across Europe and has established itself as a trusted name in the sector.
Reporting to the Regional Planning Manager, the Project Planner will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and reviewing project schedules and controls procedures. The role requires strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, with a focus on proactive planning, risk management, and performance tracking to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and review detailed master construction programmes and project control procedures for live projects.
- Prepare and present progress reviews and reports to senior management.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to assess project progress, identify risks, and support proactive problem-solving.
- Establish and manage project schedule resource requirements across all project phases – pre-construction, construction, and commissioning.
- Create and maintain progress reporting tools to track project milestones and objectives.
- Provide performance updates and variance analyses, recommending corrective actions when necessary.
- Represent the planning function in client and subcontractor meetings, ensuring clear communication of schedule status and planning issues.
- Support account management and business development efforts through the maintenance of strong client relationships.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and assist colleagues on other projects when required.
- Ensure all planning practices align with company standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills / Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in the construction industry, ideally within a main contracting environment.
- Experience on large-scale projects, preferably within data centre or high-tech industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and planning processes.
- Proficient in Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject; familiarity with BIM and digital construction tools is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and logical skills, with a solid understanding of programming techniques and typical production rates.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of conveying complex planning information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively to defined and often challenging timescales.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contractual and project management principles.
