EMEA Engineering Director

Job Title: Engineering Operations Director – Mission-Critical Data Centres

Location: UK (with UK & European travel)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Operations Director to lead the strategic and operational management of a high-performance, mission-critical data centre portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to oversee multi-site operations, align engineering strategy with business objectives, and drive operational excellence across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of senior engineers, defining global engineering standards, and ensuring the highest levels of reliability, safety, and efficiency in line with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team across multiple sites.

• Provide strategic direction for all engineering and operational activities, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

• Oversee commissioning, operations, and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure, including HV/LV systems, mechanical, and MEP assets.

• Act as the primary technical authority for engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Manage a multi-million-pound budget with full P&L accountability, driving cost efficiency without compromising quality.

• Define, implement, and continuously improve engineering processes, governance, and technical KPIs.

• Lead cross-border operations, ensuring consistent technical standards and operational excellence across UK and international sites.

• Drive risk management, change management, and operational resilience initiatives.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners.

Requirements / Experience

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in data centre operations or mission-critical engineering.

• Proven track record of leading multi-site engineering teams and senior technical management.

• Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems, MEP, ISO-rated facilities, and commissioning of critical infrastructure.

• Demonstrable experience with budget management and P&L responsibility.

• Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing skills.

• Experience in developing and implementing engineering governance, processes, and KPIs.

• Ability to travel internationally to oversee operations and align engineering standards.

• Professional qualifications desirable: CDCMP, NEBOSH, JIB/High Voltage certifications, or equivalent.
