Mechanical Commissioning Engineer – Data Centres
Location: United States (project-based / travel required)
Package: Competitive hourly rate or salary + travel/per diem

The Opportunity

We are looking for Mechanical Commissioning Engineers to support the delivery of large-scale data centre projects across the US. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring critical mechanical systems are installed, tested and operating in line with design intent.
You will play a key role across the commissioning lifecycle, working closely with project teams on high-value, mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

* Support commissioning activities across hyperscale data centre projects
* Review mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water and associated infrastructure
* Execute commissioning scripts including installation verification and functional testing
* Witness equipment start-up and system performance testing
* Identify, track and help resolve commissioning issues
* Work closely with contractors, vendors and client teams on site
* Assist with Level 2, Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning processes (IV, FPT, IST)
* Ensure systems are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project requirements

Technical Experience

* Strong understanding of mechanical systems within data centres
* Experience with chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, chilled water systems and air handling systems
* Knowledge of system sequences of operation
* Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
* Experience supporting commissioning and start-up activities on site

The Profile

* Background in commissioning, MEP construction or mechanical engineering
* Experience working on data centre or mission-critical projects preferred
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, site-based environment
* Strong communication and coordination skills
* Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem solving

Certifications / Requirements

* OSHA 10 required (OSHA 30 preferred)
* NFPA 70E preferred
* Relevant engineering or commissioning qualifications beneficial
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
* Willingness to travel to project sites
