Job Overview

We are supporting a specialist commissioning consultancy delivering data center projects directly for general contractors across the United States.
They are immediately seeking two Electrical and two Mechanical Commissioning Engineers for a project in West Texas. The successful contractors will act as an extension of the GC team, taking ownership of commissioning readiness, installation quality, documentation and safe system energisation.
This is not a high-level inspection position. Candidates must be technically strong, comfortable working directly with contractors and capable of representing the client professionally in commissioning and coordination meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Support data center commissioning activities across Levels 2-5
• Inspect electrical or mechanical installations against drawings, specifications and applicable codes
• Manage L2 and L3 installation verification and quality-control activities
• Identify installation issues before systems progress into functional testing
• Review commissioning documentation, checklists and test scripts
• Coordinate with the GC, subcontractors, equipment vendors and commissioning teams
• Monitor system readiness and support safe energisation and startup
• Manage punch-list items and track issues through resolution
• Maintain accurate commissioning, QA/QC and turnover documentation
• Represent the GC during commissioning meetings and field coordination
• Support L4 functional testing and L5 integrated systems testing where required
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality, professionalism and client communication

Electrical Requirements

• Data center or mission-critical electrical commissioning experience
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, ATS equipment and generators
• Experience completing installation verification, energisation and functional testing
• Ability to interpret one-line drawings, specifications and commissioning scripts
• Previous QA/QC, L2/L3 or L4/L5 experience
• Energy Marshal or energisation-readiness experience would be advantageous

Mechanical Requirements

• Data center or mission-critical mechanical commissioning experience
• Strong knowledge of chilled-water systems, HVAC equipment, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, cooling towers and controls
• Experience completing installation verification, startup and functional performance testing
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, sequences of operation and commissioning scripts
• Previous QA/QC, L2/L3 or L4/L5 experience
• Controls or BMS experience would be advantageous

Candidate Profile

• Proven data center, critical facilities or mission-critical experience
• Strong technical understanding within either the electrical or mechanical discipline
• Comfortable challenging contractors and maintaining quality standards
• Professional and confident when dealing directly with clients and GCs
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Willing to travel and work onsite in West Texas
• Available to mobilise quickly
• Open to occasional weekend, night-shift or extended-hour work during project closeout

Working Arrangement

The standard schedule will primarily consist of weekday day shifts. Contractors will generally receive approximately 55 hours per week, with additional hours potentially available during critical project periods.
Weekend or night-shift work may occasionally be required as projects approach completion. Where applicable, overtime will be paid in accordance with state requirements and the agreed project schedule.
The client will provide the required company email address, laptop and iPad. Accommodation will be arranged or reimbursed separately, with the applicable GSA meal allowance provided while onsite.
