Job Title: Engineering Operations Director – Mission-Critical Data Centres
Location: UK (with UK & European travel)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Operations Director to lead the strategic and operational management of a high-performance, mission-critical data centre portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to oversee multi-site operations, align engineering strategy with business objectives, and drive operational excellence across the organisation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of senior engineers, defining global engineering standards, and ensuring the highest levels of reliability, safety, and efficiency in line with business goals.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team across multiple sites.

Provide strategic direction for all engineering and operational activities, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

Oversee commissioning, operations, and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure, including HV/LV systems, mechanical, and MEP assets.

Act as the primary technical authority for engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Manage a multi-million-pound budget with full P&L accountability, driving cost efficiency without compromising quality.

Define, implement, and continuously improve engineering processes, governance, and technical KPIs.

Lead cross-border operations, ensuring consistent technical standards and operational excellence across UK and international sites.

Drive risk management, change management, and operational resilience initiatives.

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners.
Requirements / Experience

Extensive experience (10+ years) in data centre operations or mission-critical engineering.

Proven track record of leading multi-site engineering teams and senior technical management.

Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems, MEP, ISO-rated facilities, and commissioning of critical infrastructure.

Demonstrable experience with budget management and P&L responsibility.

Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing skills.

Experience in developing and implementing engineering governance, processes, and KPIs.

Ability to travel internationally to oversee operations and align engineering standards.

Professional qualifications desirable: CDCMP, NEBOSH, JIB/High Voltage certifications, or equivalent.
