About the Role

We are currently recruiting for Mechanical Fitters / Mechanical Technicians to support engineering and building operations at a major engineering site in Culham.
This is a long-term opportunity for practical, hands-on mechanical professionals who are comfortable working in a site, workshop or engineering environment and supporting engineers and technicians with mechanical activities.
Candidates with experience working within nuclear, defence, pharmaceutical, energy or other highly regulated environments would be particularly well suited to the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Support engineers, technicians and skilled trades with day-to-day mechanical activities.
• Carry out basic mechanical assembly, fitting and dismantling activities.
• Assist with the preparation of work areas, tools, materials and equipment.
• Use hand tools and mechanical equipment safely and effectively.
• Assist with the movement, handling and positioning of equipment and materials.
• Support workshop and site-based engineering activities.
• Assist with deliveries, storage and organisation of materials and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Follow site procedures and health & safety requirements.
• Correctly use PPE and comply with site safety requirements.
• Report hazards, damaged equipment or maintenance issues to supervisors.
• Work closely with engineers, technicians and other site personnel.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Technician, Engineering Technician or similar.
• Practical, hands-on mechanical fitting experience.
• Experience using hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Previous experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, construction or workshop environment.
• Nuclear or highly regulated industry experience is highly desirable.
• Experience within sectors such as nuclear, defence, energy, pharmaceutical, aerospace or other regulated environments would be advantageous.
• A strong understanding of site health & safety requirements.
• The ability to follow technical instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a reliable approach to work.
• BPSS clearance or eligibility to obtain BPSS.

Important Information

This role is Inside IR35 and approved Umbrella arrangement.
CIS is not available for this position.
Due to the site-based nature of the role, candidates who are local to Culham, Abingdon, Oxfordshire or within a reasonable commuting distance would be preferred.
