Position Purpose
Senior Project Engineer (Electrical) responsible for commissioning and overseeing electrical systems on mission critical and data centre projects throughout the NY/NJ region. The role requires a technically strong, client-facing engineer with experience in electrical commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and project delivery across complex critical environments.
The successful candidate will lead commissioning activities from design through handover, support project execution, mentor junior engineers, and work closely with clients, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful delivery of electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities for electrical distribution systems within mission critical/data centre environments
• Review electrical system designs and drawings to ensure compliance with client operational requirements
• Develop and execute commissioning plans, scripts, and procedures
• Manage field activities including inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and functional performance testing
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, OEMs, and project stakeholders during commissioning phases
• Attend FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) and witness equipment testing
• Produce commissioning reports, issue logs, and technical documentation
• Support project schedules, milestones, and commissioning deliverables
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Project Engineers and Associate Engineers
• Maintain strong client relationships and uphold a “client-first” mentality
• Ensure compliance with site safety requirements and company procedures

Technical Experience Required
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with:

• MV/LV Electrical Distribution Systems
• Switchgear & Switchboards
• UPS Systems
• Generators & Paralleling Systems
• ATS / STS Systems
• Transformers
• EPMS / BMS Systems
• PLC Controls
• Battery Systems
• PDUs / RPPs / Busway Systems
• Grounding Systems
• Functional Testing & Troubleshooting
• Electrical Test Instrumentation

Mission critical/data centre commissioning experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
• 5-10+ years’ experience in electrical commissioning, mission critical, or data centre environments
• Experience leading commissioning activities on large-scale critical infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of commissioning best practices (ASHRAE, BCxA, NETA preferred)
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• PE License and/or commissioning certifications advantageous but not essential
