We are working with a major international organisation experiencing significant growth across its European data centre portfolio and looking to appoint an experienced Data Centre Technical Manager / Technical Director in Frankfurt.

With 56 data centres currently under operation across Europe, including Germany, the UK, France, Spain and Italy, this is an opportunity to join an established platform at an important point in its continued expansion.

This is a senior technical operations position requiring someone with genuinely deep knowledge of live, mission-critical data centre environments.

You will provide technical leadership across data centre operations, supporting and overseeing site-based data centre leads while ensuring the safe, reliable and consistent operation of critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing technical leadership across live data centre operations and maintenance
• Overseeing and supporting Data Centre Leads and operational teams
• Ensuring consistent delivery of critical engineering and hard services
• Managing and challenging specialist service partners and contractors
• Driving reliability, availability and continuous improvement across the portfolio
• Supporting PPM strategy, operational procedures, emergency response and contingency planning
• Leading root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions following technical incidents
• Monitoring operational KPIs including downtime, maintenance, cost and compliance
• Ensuring technical, regulatory, safety and quality standards are consistently achieved
• Acting as a senior technical escalation point for complex operational issues
• Supporting the continued growth and development of the organisation’s German data centre operations

What we’re looking for:

This role requires an experienced data centre operations professional rather than someone whose background is predominantly construction or design.

You should bring:

• Extensive experience within data centre operations / critical facilities
• Ideally 10+ years’ experience within mission-critical environments
• Deep technical understanding of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure
• Experience managing or providing technical leadership to data centre operational teams
• Strong knowledge of maintenance, reliability, incident management and operational procedures
• Experience managing specialist contractors and service providers
• Familiarity with DCIM, CMMS and other mission-critical operational systems
• A hands-on technical mindset and the credibility to challenge engineers, contractors and suppliers
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Engineering qualifications or equivalent relevant technical experience
• Professional German and English language capability
