Lead Engineer – Data Centre
Location: Brent Cross, London
Salary: Circa £60,000 – £65,000 + Bonus
Hours: Monday to Friday (Day Shift)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical/HVAC Engineer to take a senior position within a mission-critical data centre environment. This role is responsible for overseeing all HVAC and mechanical systems, ensuring maximum uptime and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and take full ownership of HVAC and mechanical systems across the data centre site.

• Ensure uninterrupted service delivery through effective execution of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), change control processes, and regulatory compliance.

• Diagnose and resolve faults related to chillers, air conditioning systems, pumps, generators, and Building Management Systems (BMS).

• Manage permit-to-work (PTW) systems and supervise subcontractors to ensure safety and adherence to site standards.

• Serve as the main technical escalation point for critical issues and incidents.

Candidate Requirements

• F-Gas Category 1 Certification (City & Guilds) – Essential

• Proven experience working with HVAC systems in data centre or critical environments.

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in hands-on mechanical system maintenance, ideally including some supervisory responsibilities.

• Strong working knowledge of BMS, CAFM systems, and experience in PPM scheduling and compliance.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
