About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and technically strong Commissioning Program Manager to lead and oversee commissioning activities across our data center development portfolio. This role will drive the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning (Cx) throughout design, construction, and turnover, ensuring that each facility meets performance, reliability, and operational readiness standards.
This position requires deep experience with mission-critical infrastructure, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Program Manager will collaborate closely with design, construction, operations, vendors, and third-party Cx providers.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management
- Lead the commissioning program across multiple data center projects from concept through handover.
- Develop and maintain standardized commissioning processes, documentation, templates, and reporting tools.
- Forecast commissioning resource needs and manage third-party Cx firms.
- Track program-level risks, dependencies, and performance metrics.
Project Execution
- Create project-specific commissioning plans, schedules, and testing strategies aligned with corporate standards.
- Oversee commissioning activities for electrical, mechanical, controls, fire/life safety, and security systems.
- Facilitate coordination between design, construction, equipment vendors, and operations teams.
- Manage FATs, SATs, integrated systems testing (IST), and readiness reviews.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all commissioning activities comply with internal quality standards and applicable codes (ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, local AHJ requirements, etc.).
- Review commissioning documentation (MOPs, SOPs, test scripts, reports) for accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and mitigate issues that impact reliability, uptime, or safety.
Reporting & Communication
- Provide weekly and monthly program updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Drive resolution of commissioning issues and track corrective actions to closure.
- Present commissioning results, KPIs, and continuous improvement recommendations.
Qualifications Required
- 7+ years of experience in commissioning, data center operations, construction, or mission-critical engineering.
- 3+ years managing or leading commissioning programs or multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, BMS/EPMS).
- Experience managing third-party commissioning providers.
- Excellent program management, scheduling, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
- Industry certifications (CxA, CBCP, PMP, LEED AP, or similar).
- Experience with large-scale data centers or hyperscale environments.
- Familiarity with digital commissioning tools and project management platforms.
