    Salary Range: $150,000 – $190,000 + bonus & benefits

    The Opportunity

    A leading, confidential provider of commissioning and advisory services is seeking an experienced Commissioning Project Manager to support large-scale data center and mission-critical projects. This role is primarily focused on projects in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut region, with additional project management support for select North American projects.

    This position is ideal for a seasoned commissioning professional who combines strong technical expertise with proven project management and client-facing experience.

    Role Overview

    The Commissioning Project Manager will lead and manage commissioning activities across the full project lifecycle-design, pre-construction, construction, and post-construction. The role requires hands-on leadership, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and accountability for technical quality, schedule, and contractual compliance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead commissioning projects for small, medium, and large data center facilities

    • Demonstrate strong fluency with ASHRAE commissioning processes and deliverables

    • Provide technical leadership across electrical and/or mechanical systems, including installation methods, startup, inspections, and acceptance testing

    • Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, AHJs, engineers of record, and client teams

    • Develop, manage, and execute project commissioning plans from design through turnover

    • Lead commissioning design reviews, submittal reviews, and specification evaluations

    • Develop project proposals in response to client RFPs

    • Define project staffing plans and manage assigned commissioning teams

    • Manage project budgets, schedules, and financial performance

    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project delivery

    • Develop, review, and approve L1-L5 commissioning test procedures and scripts

    • Schedule, lead, and document commissioning meetings

    • Oversee seasonal and performance testing

    • Develop and manage SOPs, MOPs, and site-specific systems manuals

    • Lead QA/QC and documentation efforts using commissioning and project management software

    • Ensure contractual compliance and protect the firm’s commercial position

    • Provide escalation leadership and hands-on field support as required

    Additional Expectations

    • Willingness to travel overnight up to 50% across the U.S. and Canada

    • Travel durations typically do not exceed two weeks at a time

    • Driving between regional project sites as required

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Minimum 7+ years of mechanical or electrical engineering and/or field-testing experience

    • At least 5 years of commissioning or QA/QC experience on data center or mission-critical facilities

    • Strong working knowledge of systems including:

      • Utility transformers, UPS, generators, switchgear, ATS/STS

      • Fuel oil systems, PDUs, EPMS, BMS

      • Chillers, CRAHs, CRACs, AHUs

    • Strong data management and documentation skills

    • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Proficiency with MS Project, Word, and Excel

    Preferred

    • ABET-accredited engineering or technology degree (or equivalent experience)

    • Commissioning Professional certification (CxA or equivalent)

    • PE, PMP, or similar credentials

    • Experience working within a consultancy or owner’s organization

    • Familiarity with QA/QC and commissioning platforms (e.g., BIM360, CxAlloy, Facility Grid or similar)

    Compensation

    • Estimated base salary: $150,000 – $190,000 USD

    • Final compensation determined by experience, location, and market conditions
