Role Overview
This position is responsible for delivering complex electrical engineering support for mission-critical construction projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work closely with project teams to support planning, design coordination, estimating, systems analysis, commissioning and quality assurance activities. The role will contribute to the full lifecycle of electrical and mechanical systems development and ensure high-performance solutions are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with project goals.
This role engages in cross-disciplinary collaboration, supports technical problem-solving, and provides guidance to less-experienced engineers as part of a broader project delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Delivery
- Contribute to an industry-leading safety and quality culture through daily practices and leadership.
- Perform complex electrical engineering activities and support mechanical and field construction functions.
- Develop conceptual and schematic-level MEP cost estimates.
- Review system options, assess performance alternatives and recommend best-fit solutions.
- Support value engineering initiatives and optimisation strategies.
- Produce and coordinate scopes of work for mechanical and electrical trades during the bid process.
- Assist with sequencing and scheduling requirements to achieve project timelines.
- Review construction and design documents to identify quality and constructability issues.
- Assist in developing and implementing project-specific quality control programs.
- Perform routine jobsite inspections to ensure compliance with expectations and specifications.
- Prepare shop drawing / submittal reviews in coordination with design teams.
- Support commissioning activities including preparation of checklists, functional test procedures and verification of results.
- Generate commissioning documentation and resolve identified deficiencies.
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate across engineering, field and project management groups.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior team members.
- Contribute to development of tools, procedures and process enhancements for continuous improvement.
Skills, Competencies & Tools
- Ability to deliver work accurately, efficiently and under time constraints.
- Strong written and verbal communication capability.
- Proficient in MS Office and capable of learning new engineering and construction software platforms.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical plans.
- Understanding of construction delivery methods and engineering procedural workflows.
- Ability to maintain strong internal and external working relationships.
- Practical problem-solving and analytical skills.
Education & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or a related discipline.
Preferred
- 5+ years professional experience in construction or engineering environments, ideally with exposure to mission-critical, industrial, data center or large commercial projects.
Working Requirements
- Travel expected based on project needs.
