About the Opportunity
Our client is one of the most respected employee-owned general contractors in the United States, delivering some of the country’s most complex mission critical and data center projects.
As the Mission Critical business continues to expand nationally, they are seeking an experienced Commissioning / CX Quality Manager to develop and lead commissioning and quality processes across hyperscale and colocation data center projects.
This is an opportunity to shape commissioning standards across a rapidly growing business while working alongside experienced construction and MEP leadership on some of the largest data center developments in North America.
The Role
Reporting into the Mission Critical leadership team, you will own the commissioning strategy from preconstruction through final turnover, ensuring every critical system is installed, tested and validated to the highest operational standards.
You will work closely with project teams, commissioning agents, owners, design consultants and trade partners to drive predictable project delivery through structured quality planning and commissioning execution.
This position is highly technical while also requiring strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop commissioning strategies during preconstruction
- Lead commissioning activities through construction and project turnover
- Manage Factory Witness Testing (FWT)
- Coordinate Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Lead Pre-Functional Testing (PFT)
- Manage Functional Performance Testing (FPT)
- Oversee Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
- Verify installation quality across all mission critical systems
- Drive commissioning readiness reviews
- Support operational acceptance and client turnover
- Develop Definable Features of Work (DFOW)
- Implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Conduct field quality inspections
- Identify and resolve deficiencies before turnover
- Lead root cause investigations for system issues
- Review commissioning documentation and O&M manuals
- Coordinate with Owner Commissioning Agents (CxA)
- Mentor project teams on commissioning best practices
- Promote continuous improvement across multiple projects
Systems Experience
Candidates should possess strong knowledge of:
- Medium & Low Voltage Electrical Distribution
- UPS Systems
- Switchgear
- Generators
- Cooling Plants
- CRAH & CRAC Units
- Chilled Water Systems
- Hydronic Systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
- Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems
What We’re Looking For
- 5-10+ years within mission critical construction
- Strong commissioning background on hyperscale or colocation data centers
- Mechanical or Electrical engineering experience preferred
- Experience managing complex MEP testing and commissioning
- Understanding of TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier Standards and ASHRAE
- Ability to work with Owners, Consultants and Trade Partners
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Willingness to travel nationally
